So many times we are looking toward another for approval. It may be approval of how we look, how we act, what we do, or even what we talk about. Approval of who we are and what we believe in.
Well, give yourself permission.
Give yourself permission to look how YOU want to look. That may mean wearing makeup or not wearing makeup. It may mean having short hair or long hair. It may mean having blond hair or purple hair.
Give yourself permission to act how YOU want to act. There may be times when you need to follow rules because of where you are, such as being quiet in a library. That’s one thing. I’m talking about you acting a certain way because you feel that’s what others will expect of you. Or you put on a facade because of those around you (that darn peer pressure).
Give yourself permission to act how YOU would act.
Give yourself permission to talk about what YOU are feeling, about what is going on inside YOU.
And give yourself permission to believe in what YOU want to believe in.
I read something yesterday that really struck me and seems to fit perfectly with this. It’s from a book called Fireside, by Mary Summer Rain:
“One’s beliefs are a large portion of his or her unique identity. To deny those beliefs in deference to another’s is to deny part of self. Confidence and commitment to beliefs can be easily shattered if the strength of those beliefs isn’t strong, and nothing shatters that strength of conviction faster than ego, meaning the need to be accepted by others.
Conformity. Forsaking beliefs to gain acceptance. That’s going against the natural self.”
Many of us are continually looking to another for approval for what we do or how we are. We deny ourselves. We deny our essence.
We also withhold our light from others when we deny ourselves and our beliefs.
Give YOUrself permission to be YOUr full self. Give YOUrself permission to SHINE. Give YOUrself permission to be who YOU were meant to be. Give YOUrself permission to be YOU.
Angel Blessings to you.
