Dear Ones,
Today we wish to speak of nurturing self.
Some may feel when you nurture yourself, when you take a ‘spa’ day or a day for you, that you are being selfish. That is far from the truth. When you take care of yourself, on all levels — mind, body, and soul — you are better able to take care of whatever comes your way.
Nurturing yourself can be done in small increments throughout each day. In fact, small and consistent is very good.
Some of these small increments may be:
-
- close your eyes for 5 minutes and focus on your breathing
- go for a walk around the block
- place your bare feet on the ground and feel Mother Earth beneath you
- stare into space with nothing specific on your mind and see what thoughts find you
- only eat food that nourishes your body
- create — a song, a poem, a picture …
- send love to all the cells of your body
- send joyful thoughts out to the neighborhood you live in
These are just a few things you could do and there are so many more. Nurturing yourself is so very important and will continue to be so. It helps you when you are called to help another.
