When we start something we haven’t ever done before, everything is new. It’s fun discovering new things, exploring places we haven’t been before.
I’m new to living in Arizona. I’m on my 5th month. It’s hard to believe. In many ways it seems as though I’ve been here for a long time and others it seems as though I’ve just arrived. There are still so many things that I’m doing for the first time or visiting for the first time here.
I keep thinking some of the routines I have will ‘settle’ the newness but it hasn’t yet. And that’s OK. Maybe once I hit the year mark. We’ll see.
One of the draws to AZ was Sedona. I was there on Saturday for a class. I’ve enjoyed the energies of Sedona for many years though I am glad I live ‘near’ and not ‘in’ Sedona.
One of the things I still love, and it feels new every time, is when I am just starting to see the red rocks on the edge of town. The beauty of it is so breathtaking. I don’t want that feeling to ever get old. I want it to continue to have an affect on me.
So when you are starting something new and it’s exciting and challenging (in a good way), remember those feelings. So when it seems to turn into the ‘same old thing’, you can go back to the new and exciting feelings that you experienced in the beginning.
What are some ways to do this?
- Journal about it and add lots of details
- Write a blog 🙂 about your experience
- Take pictures
- Do some audios or videos
- Etch it forever in your brain
This picture is of a window in the ceiling of where I was sitting on Saturday.
Angel Blessings to you.

I would love to go back out to arizona, the scenery is beautiful!
Ah yes… the feeling of the red rocks. And each direction coming into town is a different breathtaking view. 🙂
A good reminder to get out there and see things, no matter how long you have lived there!
Yes, and Michelle, I realized when I left WI there was so much I hadn’t taken the time to see while I was there. No matter where we live, there are always ‘new’ things. Thanks for the comment. 🙂
Excellent post! It’s true so many things can become mundane just because we’re used to them. My husband makes fun of me any time I’m in Texas everything for me is new and I’m wide eyed, but for him it’s just same old same old … lol
Good for you! It adds adventure when things are new…
I love Sedona as well. I have only been there once, but it was quite an experience.
I find that when I am involved in change it can be scary. I have a fear of failing and sometimes fall into a mode of doing nothing.
Well Joanne, next time you head to AZ to visit Sedona, let me know. I’m only an hour away. Sometimes when we are in the midst of changing, we do get overloaded. And that’s when even if we do something that only takes 5 minutes, once we do it, it very well may lead to more than 5 minutes. It’s a start & the more we cheer ourselves for each step, it’s good. And then there are times when we aren’t meant to do anything, so the mode of doing nothing may be the mode we need to be in… 🙂 Thanks for the comments.
Yes, blogging everyday for 31 days is definitely something new for me!
Me too Miss Stacey!! And that’s only a small piece of it I’m finding out. It’s all good! 🙂
Sedona is so beautiful! Enjoy the newness 🙂
Thanks Louise 😉
It’s so easy to lose that feeling. I need to see things through my 8-year old’s eyes a bit more often I think. See things in a fresh, new perspective. And, of course, enjoy life just a little more.
Kids are great, aren’t they Julie? Next time you don’t know what to do, ask your 8 year old 🙂
