Red roseThe Boston Marathon has been around since 1897, so I think it’s safe to say that it’s been around longer than any of us.

You may not know anyone who has ever participated in it, or anyone who has ever seen it, but chances are, you’ve heard of it.

A couple of days ago, I wrote a blog called Send Love and Gratitude. The message was simple. Send love and gratitude, to those involved and the helpers who were there to assist.

Then we have the fertilizer plant explosion in Texas. Another explosion, very close to home for many of us.

Today’s blog is to find out, how you *handle* it, when you hear of things like this in the news? What is it that works for you when you hear of these things so close to home?

Many of you may be saying – don’t turn on the news, which is an awesome idea. However, if you’ve still heard about it, and you’re upset about it, what do you do, to help yourself, to help your kids, get through things like this?

I would like to hear your comments. Please share, what has worked for you. It may be something different each time.

Some of the things that have been known to work for me:

Ask the question, is it mine (the feeling, the emotion). This works many times if my mood has changed suddenly. When there are situations like the Boston Marathon, the emotions you are feeling will most likely be a combination of yours and everyone else’s. We can only be responsible for our own feelings. This is not a selfish comment, but everyone has come on this journey, to learn what they have set up to learn.

Feel the feelings. If you are feeling sad, cry. If you are feeling angry, yell. If you are feeling frustrated, stomp around. Feel the feelings and get them out. (Yes, you’ve heard me say this before.)

Go for a walk in nature. This will help clear your mind, clear your aura, clear your emotions as well as rejuvenate you.

Play with a child or a pet. A pet or a child has unconditional love. Play, have fun, give them a hug. Let them know you love them back.

Do something nice for another. This can be as simple as a smile, opening a door, letting the car in front of you go first, anything to ‘give’ to another.

Add your comments. What you do to help you, may very well help the next person too.

Angel Blessings to you.

Sue
