nestHow many times have you been told to either 'have more patience', 'you need to be patient' or 'patience is a virtue'? If you're anything like me, probably a lot. And many of those times very well could be coming from your own self-talk.

I just did a quick search on Google for 'patience' and there are a mere 176,000,000 results. Yes, there really are 6 zeros.

So what can we do about this patience – thing? Here are some ideas:

Walk away (quickly :)). Sometimes that is the best answer. If someone is testing your patience, it really may be best to leave the room and walk away from the situation. You may return once you are in a different frame of mind.

Maybe on a subconscious level we are reminded of something from our past (this life or a past life). We may not fully understand it, but it's clear we are coming from a place of being on the defensive. So when we walk away, it gives us a chance to work through some things and come back and start a conversation with a clearer state of mind.

Deep breathing. Even stopping to take one deep breath is very beneficial. Breathing works for so many things – other than the obvious of getting air.

When we take a breath, a conscious deep breath, you bring more oxygen into your body then the stress laden shallow breathing which we many times do. And if we are not patient, our breathing very well could be shallow.

The deep exhale also is beneficial to release toxins.

Next time you are feeling not so patient, notice your breathing. Then take a conscious deep breath or two and see if that makes a difference.

Trust. This is one of my favorite words and it seems to come up often in my life. If you truly trust in the process, trust in the outcome that everything is happening as it should, trust in the timing, then there's no need to suffer or agonize about the situation.

Have you ever been in a traffic jam when you're trying to get somewhere? Well, first off, you may be in the traffic jam because you were late leaving in the first place -just saying. But seriously, now you're in the traffic jam, maybe even at a stand still.

Now, bring in trust. Trust that everything is happening as it should and the timing is right on. Then take notice of what song is on the radio, is the sun shining, are the birds singing? Notice what is around you.

Maybe you aren't supposed to be where you think you are. Maybe there's an accident ahead. There could be any number of reasons why. And if we trust, it's much easier to remain calm and not get frustrated.

See what Lara Lundstrom Clarke has to say about being late.

Try any or all of these when you are feeling inpatient, or your patience is being tested. Add what works for you in the comments below or on my Facebook page.

Angel Blessings to you.

PS The Robin's nest is empty, right this minute, but I am patient because I trust there will be eggs soon! 🙂
