I wouldn’t say that I’ve been moving that slow since I’ve been in my new home. But seeing a snail out back today does give me cause to pause. Yes, a snail does move rather slowly, but very methodically.
I had moved him because he was in a place where he could be easily stepped on. So I put my new found friend under a bush.
When I first saw him, I thought it was a rock. And then saw a flat side that looked a bit slimy. There also was a path on the patio that looked like it was from a slug. Well, now I know it was the snail.
So I moved him and then a few minutes later went out to check on him. He was just hoisting his big shell up the side of a brick. He just hung on and kept moving ever so slightly until his shell was up high enough.
This is what I found on a website from ROM n Australia:
Snail symbol meanings deal with steady footing and stability. Snails carry their homes upon their backs which is symbolic of carrying our security in our hearts. Not only sure of foot snails are also symbols of slow and steady progress. Stability and success do not appear overnight. Rather, success usually comes at a snail's pace.
Another meaning from Animal Totem deck says:
Are you too closed in? Do you need to come out of your shell? Examine the walls and shells you have created in your life.
For me, seeing the snail is symbolic of where I am right now from both meanings. I do need to come out of my shell and see what's out in this whole new city. I've been inside quite a bit so now it's time to explore. And the slow, steady footing and stability. But mostly, my security is in my heart, it’s not external.
How many times do we look for our security, our answers outside of ourselves when all we really need to do is to go within and find our answers and our security within, in the Divine we all hold deeply within us.
If you are searching out there somewhere, stop. Sit quietly and go within. Listen to what your heart is telling you, how your heart feels. The answers are there.
Angel Blessings to you.
