leafWhat is it about acceptance that additional lessons keep coming back in our lives. Well, maybe not yours, but mine. 🙂

I’m guessing though, that if it’s coming up in my life, it’s coming up in yours too!

Acceptance is being OK with where things are. You can still try to change them, but being OK right now.

Release the expectations of how you thought the day would be. Sometimes we are looking so hard at how we thought things should be we aren't enjoying what is happening right now. Relax into what the day before you has to offer:

  • It’s cold/hot outside
  • The kids are being noisy
  • There’s a long line in the grocery store
  • I’m stuck in a snow storm
  • The traffic is slowing to a crawl
  • The cashier is grouchy
  • I have a flat tire

Be OK with what is before you, and behind you. Be OK with this moment.

Here is something that works when you find yourself frustrated (a sign of non-acceptance):

Stop and breathe. Don’t try to control your breathing or change it. Just pay attention to it for a minute. Pay attention when you breathe in and pay attention to when you breathe out.

Notice what is going on around you, without emotion, without judgement:

  • Oh, the car in front of me has a taillight out
  • Oh, the wind is really blowing
  • Wow, that sounds like a lot of snow
  • Huh, I have no jack in the car
  • I think I hear the dog barking

A great by-product of acceptance: You try to figure it out, you try to figure it out, you can’t figure it out, you give up trying to figure it out and then you figure it out. Ah, acceptance.

Angel Blessings to you.
