You’ve probably all heard you have a twin out there somewhere. Well, I came face to face with Max’s twin over the weekend.
Max is the outside cat. He came with the house and he is truly, King of the Outdoors, Outdoor King, OK. And as I drive away, I will let him know he is in charge and he always sits up a little bit taller. I think he likes being in charge.
Saturday, I see Max on the back deck, something he does occasionally, knowing he can come sit by the patio door and see into the whole kitchen. When the patio door is open, he makes sure we know he’s there with many ‘meows’.
Max came up to the door and quickly walked across the deck and back down the stairs. I was in the middle of something, so perfect. I didn’t have time to stop and have a chat right now anyway. About 2 minutes later, here he is again.
I walk over to the door and look out and Max looks different. He looks fuller and I thought maybe he was really puffing his fur out because of the cold. I go out on the deck and he’s meowing away. His meow sounds a bit whiny though, maybe a bit off from how he usually sounds.
As I look at him, I’m thinking, Max, you really look different. What do you have on your back, a spider web? So I walk over to Max and I keep looking at him because he looks strange.
He’s at my legs, circling so I reach down to pick him up.
Now, Max will allow me to pick him up, and he may snuggle for about 2 seconds – before he remembers he’s a cat and must keep up the ‘aloof behavior & appearance’ and want to jump down. This cat, was probably 3-5lbs heavier than Max, and was also much more loving. He was not making a move to jump down.
I knew this was not Max just having an off day. This was Max’s Doppelgänger, his twin.
I set this cat on the railing and he happily walks along, back and forth as I take a few pictures (I had to have proof for when my roommate got home), while calling for Max.
What has happened to Max? Am I in another dimension and this is somehow Max but different? What happened?
After calling for him, and searching out his warm spot in the shed to no avail, I went out to the front porch. There’s Max, snug in his box with his warm blanket surrounding him. And here comes Max’s twin, right up on the porch and lays down in the sun. He seemed very much at home.
Max and his friend (who has since let me know his name is Sebastian, and Max and Sebastian have been litter-mates in Atlantis), calmly sit on the porch and the deck, 6 feet from each other, neither raising an eyebrow at the other. Me in the middle taking pictures, still thoroughly amazed (and relieved Max was comfortably in his box).
- What are the chances of another Tuxedo cat on our back deck?
- What are the chances that these 2 are so calm with each other?
- What are the chances of Sebastian allowing me to pick him up and did not seem in the least bit afraid?
- Is Sebastian from this 3D reality we call earth or from another dimension?
- And if he is from another dimension, then why?
I have seen Sebastian at least one other time. Yes, I thought it was Max with a spider web on his back from crawling under the deck. Sebastian has just the slightest of white marks on his back. And I have not seen him since this picture was taken 2 days ago.
Since then, I have etched Max's markings into my mind. Sebastian won't be fooling me again.
Just another Saturday morning in northern Arizona.
Angel Blessings to you.
