Howdy Peeps!
I had someone ask me the other day, "What is it about you and connections?".
As some of you know I have a free gift if you follow my blog called 7 Days of Connection. And I also have 2 Ezine Articles about connections:
So as you can see, I'm all about the 'connection'. But it's a fair question, what is it really all about.
It was somewhat of a joke at work. You've heard the 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon , well, they used to tease me when I was in my corporate job that it was 2 degrees of Sue Broome. So from that perspective, I was connected. 🙂
But on a personal level, the connection to my loved ones, Mom, Dad, Chris, Grandparents, I do in meditation. And when I feel 'connected', I can feel their love and I know they can feel mine. It's how we communicate. So in many ways, it's just a part of me.
Last year I took a questionnaire that tells you what your 5 strengths are, and guess what the 2nd one was: connectedness. So even in taking a test it shows up.
Another aspect of being connected, I've talked about before with the pond (More Light to the World) is how we, here on planet earth are all connected. You've heard the quote: When a butterfly flaps his wings in one part of the world, it can cause a hurricane in another part of the world. Author unknown. That's why it really is important, no matter if it's our thinking, our saying or our doing, to be positive, to be kind, to be loving, to show compassion.
To start with the connections, starting with your breath seems to be the easiest, because we all do it, without having to think about it. Start by paying attention to your breathing, that's all. It's amazing how you will feel more centered if you do it for just a few minutes a day. It's as if things around you fall away as you just focus in on your breathing.
Another one to try, that's really fun right now in the fresh, spring air. Connect with a bird that's singing. Put your focus on the bird, listen to what it sounds like. Does it sound like it's just singing a nice cheerful tune or does it sound like an alarm. See if you can get a sense of how high up in the tree it is, or is it on your roof. You don't have to be able to see it, to make the connection.
As you connect with the bird, you'll notice that other noises around you may drop away, so the only thing you are hearing is that particular bird.
It's always fun to connect with nature. Trees are a great one because not only are trees fun to watch, swaying in the breeze, but they offer refuge to so many animals. And with trees (and plants in general), you know it's a give and take with our breath. As we breathe out carbon dioxide, the plants take it in and give back oxygen. And we breathe in the oxygen and on it goes. So how can we say we aren't connected?
Take a walk and go make yourself some new connections outside. Or have a seat and breathe 🙂 and connect with your breath.
Angel Blessings to you.
