I was walking along today and saw a backyard that was full of Irises in bloom and some that were about done. I had to stop and take a picture. They remind me of what my backyard in Madison will look like in another month or so.
I started with a lunch bag size of Iris bulbs about 8-9 years ago. I had never had them before and didn’t know much about planting them so needed help from friends. There were plenty who gave me assistance.
Fast forward and the entire length of my garage was full bloom Irises, white Irises. They would give a scent that was light and fresh and wonderful.
Over the years, I would thin the Irises out. They multiplied quite a bit every year. And I would say I probably gave away 10-15 grocery bags full of bulbs.
It’s amazing what a few bulbs will do if you love and nurture them and take good care of them.
- What are you loving and nurturing in your life?
- Are you thinning out what needs to be thinned out?
- Are you readily sharing your ‘bulbs’ with others?
Angel Blessings to you.

After such a tough week, I think I will buy myself flowers with a beautiful scent. Your posts are always right on time!
Thanks Sabrina. Yes, buy yourself some wonderful flowers 🙂
Cool lessons from the garden Sue! Love it.
Thank you Louise. And thank you for the inspiration from your beautiful flower pictures you’ve been posting. 🙂
Those are beautiful! I have yellow Irises in my garden, but I won’t see those in bloom for another 3 months.
I still have some ‘weeding’ to do. Some have deeper ‘roots’ than others. But I’m definitely ready to share my ‘bulbs’ with the world.
I was weeding & raking yesterday Linda. I got almost 4 bags and barely did the front & side of the house. Much more than I would have expected with no grass for yard – I have sand & gravel… But those leaves get caught under all the bushes. It was great being outside for a bit yesterday working. 🙂
I’ve been tidying my garden both literally and metaphorically. We have just spent the last two weekends clearing the garden sheds after years of collecting stuff. Many items have been given away or sent to the rubbish dump and I now have lots of clear space ready to welcome new things in.
Hi Dot. It’s always fun to freshen it up. I know each time my neighbors would freshen, I’d get some fun new things. I had a Bleeding Heart plant that was about 5-6 feet across. It had the perfect spot! Have fun with your new things coming in. 🙂
I LOVE irises, and have a hillside garden full of them, which will need division and re-planting this year. So many gorgeous colors, and they smell so wonderful!
Oh Amy, take a few deep breaths for me please. 🙂 Ahhhh, thank you!
