Howdy Peeps!!
Check this out!! Isn't it awesome? I made it on my iPad (Mandalas Free by Lemming Labs). It's fun and it makes beautiful images – if I do say so myself!
This morning in my meditation I was asking about my blog today and yes, the mandala drawings came to my mind so I thought I'd show off a couple (more on my Facebook Page) and tell you a bit about mandalas and what they mean to me.
Probably 12-15 years ago I was down at the Union, sitting looking out over the water. It was cool out, kind of windy and cloudy.
There was another woman there and we got to talking. I think one of her kids was looking to go to UW Madison so she was visiting. We ended up going for a walk and talked.
I was going through some rough times of change then. It was interesting, meeting someone from out of state, most likely never to see them again, but able to talk about some things I was going through, and telling her things I hadn't shared with anyone else, and her able to give me a different perspective on things. We may have sent an email or 2 over the next months but lost touch. She may not even remember me.
As I'm thinking about mandalas this morning, memories of that meeting come back. She was very much into mandalas. If I remember, she was drawing many different mandalas and it was helping her on her path. I didn't know much about them other than what she had said.
I remember she was an artist so I searched this morning (thank you memory!) and sure as shooting, I found her. This is what she says about mandalas:
Osher feels that her art has helped her to become a more spiritual person, enabling her ”to feel the connection that we have with each other and with nature.” She continues to create artwork that deepens and shares this connection.
Her site is: http://www.marianosher.com/index.html so you can check out the mandalas she has available. They are truly beautiful.
Mandalas have always been something beautiful to me, but I've never been drawn to color them. But this iPad app is awesome, and each one truly is your creation.
I also did a search for mandala and found that labyrinths are a type of mandala – well now that makes sense. I am very drawn to labyrinths as well and have walked several over the years, here and in other states.
Labyrinths can be a form of walking meditation and have allowed me to release things as I'm walking in as well as gather up and fill with love on the walk out. I think the mandalas can be used for releasing what no longer serves you and filling back up with love as well. For me, when I look into the center, it's like looking deep into my soul. And different colors and designs allow you to see different aspects of yourself.
Here's an awesome site, The Mandala Project. They have information on mandalas as well as labyrinths.
Every day is about discovering more about yourself. Sometimes you may meet a stranger at the Union who will help you through a tough time, leading you deeper within. Sometimes you may discover an iPad app that opens your creativity in a new way with the drawing of a mandala. And many times it's going into meditation and listening.
Whatever you do, to discover you, is right. Release what no longer serves and fill back up with love.
Check out my Facebook Page (Like it if you haven't already). I've added other mandalas I've just done as well as other creations that are mandala like :). And as always, pass this along to anyone you feel may benefit. Thank you.
Angel Blessings to you.
